My beloved Bullhead just died of columnaris after 5 horrible days.

It started with a wound that was slow healing.

Then she had tiny white spots near her main whiskers.

This became flesh eating and I had to watch her lose her other whiskers and watch the bacteria eat around her main whiskers that she used to feel her way around. She got other holes...looked like she was in a coma head down and tail up for hours, got better then last night was gently rythymlically rubbing her wounds on stuff you could tell she was in unbearable pain and trying to make it stop. This morning she was belly up.

I wish that if she had to die it would have been quicker this was unbearable.

I had a pleco named Spike for like 6yrs, he was a good size guy prob 12in+. He lived with my turtles and was a diligent cleaner. One yr, we had a heat wave and no a/c. I was desperately putting ice and cold water in. Temp said it was fine. So started watching some tv, heard lots of splashing and commotion in the tank. Looked over and my turtles were eating his stiff dead body! Poor guy cooked to death. I also had a giant(like 6in) goldfish named Niblet, (he grew up w/ Spike, and survived that heatwave), one day he was swimming slowly, and acting weird. Next day he looked like he was covered in thick white mucus. My turtle snuck up on him and bit off his head. He wriggled around for like 20sec. then my other turtle came and finished him off. Poor guy:( I had another pleco for like 3 yrs, he came down to CA from WA in our car, did great. Was filling up my tank for the 2nd time w/ my new water system, and I didn't know god damn thing takes 50yrs to reach its temp, and as it raises, levels off periodically. It ended up wayyyyy to hot and cooked the pleco. I now check the temp every few min, just to make sure... the goldfish were on the brink of death(floating), but they bounced back after i put them in cool water. One of my current goldfish got sucked onto my water circulator, didn't see him for awhile, i noticed, turned off the circulator, and he had a huge indentation from being sucked on. I thought he was dead, but he lived and still has a huge misshapen, scaleless indention on his tummy. My current pleco Shadow, is growing quickly(4-5in) and sleeps w/ my tiger oscar in their cave, and is the only resident that the oscar will allow in her cave. It's pretty cute. I'm making sure to be careful w/ this one!

I bought a school of black tetras that seemed fine. after about 1 month one of them started to swell. It stopped and stayed relatively fat for about 2 months so I just thought that it was a female. then the eyes turned pitch black and swelled massively. the eyes were almost the size of jelly beans when the fish finally died. Strangely the other tetras are still fine to this day.

My Jag who was SUPER green was with my Red Devil who was SUPER red. Two of my favorites together and one day.. the Jag was super torn up which sucked because they were together for quite some time. I didn't realize how bad it was when I took the RD to my lfs, I had to put the Jag out of it's misery 3 days later. :(

The worst death any of my fish have gone threw was caused by my fully grown congo puffer... When i first started out I had no idea what i was doing and I put a full grown congo puffer in with my elephant nose knife.... The congo puffer ripped off the knifes whole face and ate it. poor guy.

I also had a fresh water snowflake eel eat two of my plecos.... weird.

i had a crayfish in with a fire gourami and the crayfish ate off all the fins one by one and his eyes and the fish survived for another 2 days! i couldnt believe it! but then the crayfish ate him. i also had a leporinus that i couldnt find and my girlfriend was like i bet he jumped out and in the process of saying that she accidentally stepped on him. it was ugly.
