i LOVE black throats,and have the scars to prove it,there a little mean at first and it sucks when the crap out that tar like stuff that stinks something fierce,by rights an adult black throat needs 100 square feet of space when there adult size,and even more for a water monitor,if you want something different that can be somewhat easy to care for i suggest a black and white tegu,there really nice looking and if you get a female they will only get around 2.5-3',watch for the argentinean tegu's though,those suckers are nasty,
or go back to the old faithfull bearded dragons,can't get much better then them for a reptile "pet"
