This is the stuff that really bothers me and I'm not too crazy about the so- called platinum fish either. It's like people are bored with fish in their natural form so they create these monstrosities.
I agree as far as hybrids go, but (just playing devil's advocate here, not trying to start anything) they are in captivity. It's not like they are being bred this way to be released into the wild. Wouldn't it be the same as breeding dogs for conformation? All dogs came from wild wolves long long ago. At what point do we finally see it as a completely different animal with its own rights to exist?

I agree, but remember that leucistic fish do occur in the wild, and they are the true rare beauties.

I guess I see your point but we all know that these fish are not being created to be released into the wild, where's the money in that?,but there is a market for them.It comes down to personal taste. As far as the dogs...thankfully we don't have glowing or dogs with bulging eyes but there is trend now among the pit bull types with the short limbs and stout bodies.I guess this almost paralells the short bodied fish...yuck.

Due to the fact that these forms don't appeal to me I don't do much research on them but if some of the color forms are naturaly occurring then I guess I can't include them here.;)

Unfortunately, lots of dog breeds are so terribly deformed, they do have bulging eyes, which causes eye trouble. The short-nosed breeds have difficulty breathing (i.e. pugs, boston terriers, "english" bulldogs.) I honestly can't think of any particular breed that doesn't have some sort of genetically predisposed problem. English bulldogs are prone to skin infections, bone problems, and countless other things from being so exaggerated.

A lot of dogs are prone to luxating patella, hip dysplasia, cataracts, the list goes on! Mind you, none of them are glowing, but that would be an interesting site to see!

I guess I am just proving your point here!

OMG I would love a glowing dog!!! I love all this crossbreeding hybrid stuff, maybe one day POKEMON will be a reality if we keep it up!!! I can't wait!!!

Oscars, Reddevil/Midas, Pacus, RTCs, Channel Catfish, ID sharks and Common Pleco should not be sold at stores, or at last have a limited stock of these tankbusters, instead of being available at all times. There's some ID sharks at my lfs for two years, stuck in 10gal and only growing a little. Oscars, pacu and red devil/midas are always rehome all times or return to the store all times.

LOL,How about a transparent dog?You could watch as it processes it's food after it eats it.

I would say Pacus, RTCs, and possible stingrays.. Don't get me wrong I've seen ALOT of people have gorgeous stingrays on here and they look very well taken care of but I've also seen tons of them jammed into a tiny tank and I think its cruel.

For Oscars, as a couple of you have stated. I would like to say mine is VERY well taken care of. I've tried him on many different foods to see what he likes, he LOVES shrimp and fresh shrimp from the store.. Also, I have gotten rid of both my convicts for his sake. They of course went to good homes. I told them I MUST see the tank before it goes in, water conditions are to be tested and if they are to put anything else in the tank to call me. I raised them since they were little, I know their personality. But back to the point. I got rid of them for his sake. They beat him up and I wasn't having it. Now he is doing VERY well and I've never seen the orange in him this bright.

I think any fish can be well taken care of it the person takes that time to actually give a **** and do it right.
