beluga and Kaluga can take on large fish and are hard to kill

So is Steven Segal, but that doesn't make him an ultimate monster. I don't see how a sturgeon is even in this discussion besides their armoring and size. I don't think they would even confront anything else on this list, let alone kill it somehow.

If this thread is about who would win in a fight why do you keep insisting on sturgeon? They have no tools to kill anything really

these two are reported to eat large fish, and they could jump, which would scare away others. doubt anything other than tigers can kill them, so I would put them at second. chicx do u think this is sticky worth BTW? if u think something else deserves second place( GATF is first) post away

Do you have a source that says the eat large fish? Cause this is all I found uploadfromtaptalk1379275273686.jpg

My second place goes to H. Aimara

Orly? I guess you managed to notice in a couple of days what I've missed in over seven years...

:screwy:

It would certainly appear as though he has.

They're not common because they require a specialized tank and a long term commitment, but anyone who is prepared to invest 3-4 years in one of these can have an incredibly impressive fish. Those are just pictures that I already had cached.

aimara seems to be one of the top, if u can get reports or articles or anything of em shredding fish the size of paima and sturgeon, they could get second.In addition, it says at the bottom it can, and whole salmon is bout the size of an aimara;)

Come on, are you really suggesting that those pics are anywhere near the "full potential" of the species? While they are very impressive examples, in fact the best I've seen in a private aquarium, the biggest one would only be 3' at best? Seems like a far cry from this;

If 5' is the max size then a 3' one is only 60% of its potential size. The ones in the pics look thicker and more solid (perhaps from having adequate room to swim at speed?). Even if they're only 1-2' longer, I'm picking they would be far larger in mass than the aquarium kept example above.

it was four feet I think, and four or three feet are the average sorta length.

The GATF with the kid by it is just a hair under 4' (hell the tank is 10x4x4) and the tanzaniae in the last pic was said by Wes, aka fugupuff, to be over 30". I consider anything Wes claims to be good as gold.

The problem with African tigers is that most people only have them for less than five years for whatever reason. Death, selling, moving, whatever. Most people don't have them long enough to let them grow out. The old females you posted are likely over 20 years old. If someone manages to keep an ATF alive that long, there's no doubt in my mind we'll see fish of that size. When was the last time you heard of anyone keeping any fish for 20 years?

personally, I find there are quite a lot of fish kept that long by seasoned peeps(longest fish I had is a cory for four years), however not these toothy preds.
