Whats Wrong With The FireMouth

Depends on the species I would assume. The ones you normally see in stores...ornate bichers I think need about 50-55g.
 
I have seen his firemouths before and they well SUCK! They NEVER come out. I have had africans and many other cichlids and these are just abnormal. They have been in the tank since easter so it isnt that they arent used to the tank. I think he just got some bad fish because my bestfriend had a firemouth that was much better than these guys. His actually came out and swam around these ones just always sit behind the bricks. Is it possible that his fish have been sick the whole time he has had them because he got them from petco at the same time. I dont know what to do except get new fish.

How about some kind of apistogramma? At least they would fit the tank and I think they are pretty.

I had a friend who had two Texas cichlid who acted the same way. Once dither fish were introduced they started swimming around more, defending territorys and chasing the fish. Try it, I am almost 100% positive it will work.

No, there is really no such thing as a bad fish, except if it eats other fish... But every fish has a different personality... Like his firemouths are just shy and probably come out when he isn't around.... They may also still be adjusting.. So don't go there Chad, as it can take awhile for fish to adjust to the surroundings to where they are not shy.
 
He has dithers in there too. He has 3 tiger barbs they are kinda wierd too.
