What's your biggest disappointment in this hobby?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So you are just personally insulated by a term you read? Ok.

I made it clear in my second post that in my own tank they waste space I can fill with fish I’d get more enjoyment from.

If that offends you I can’t imagine you can read much online without being offended left and right. Lol
Well, it sure speaks volumes about your character in your last post. Instead of showing dignity for yourself, and apologizing for an insulting term, you start a personal attack on my feelings.

Myself now, I don’t get insulted. I’ve been to hell in back in wartime and couldn’t care less what you think of me. But!!! Next time you post about fish we keep in a small glass box, who shouldn’t be there in the first place, show a little respect. A little goes a long way in this life.

Words like disappointment and waste of space didn’t have to lead to this discussion, if you were only more respectful with your initial comment.

It wasn’t said in a way that was ment to be disrespectful. You got offended because you didn’t like my choice of wording.
The point of the post wasn’t to pick apart what others find disappointing in the hobby or how they choose to word their disappointment.

I do thank you for your service though. I have a lot of respect for those willing to defend their country.

And I do apologize to the op for this derailment of a post that was ment to be lighthearted.

I give up, you won. Cause if you can’t recognize or apologize for that term you used, them I’m wasting my time.

Imagine if your husband approached you and called you a waste of space. See my point...

Have a good day. Brian.

The same can be said for a lot of humans in this world, but we still value and respect them for what they are.

I only keep pleco and catfish, to me they the have the highest of character, are extremely beautiful, and play a very important role in an ecosystem.

Setup a 180 gallon with heavy driftwood, defused lighting, floating plants, and a dozen various pleco. Then sit back an enjoy one of life’s most remarkable creatures.

Sorry but I take “waste of space” kinda insulting.

He's just trolling you. I'm with you I think plecos are a waste of space along with Oscars. It is what is. Different strokes for different folks. We wouldn't have the diverse selection of we all had the same tastes.

My two biggest disappointments aren't fish I keep but rather the current state of the hobby:
In aquariums people either keep only sa/ca fish or African species , and not much else these days.

In ponds I see only koi and goldfish and rarely any other fish despite easily compatible species

Other than koi or goldfish most fiish are not as easily seen in an outdoor pond.

My biggest dissapointment is reality. When I was younger I had time and could put more funds toward the hobby. Now I do not have the time to devote to a bunch of big monsters so I have to really choose carefully.

Its opened my eyes to keeping other fish though and allows me to share it with the fam.
