I gotta say being a called a penis fish on MFK is my biggest disappointment in fish keeping LOL. mostly in the last 35 to 40yrs in the hobby I have had a ton of fun and enjoyment. part of my life I would never change if given the chance to do over again

I'll echo the OPs disappointment in my JD tank. Beautiful but very boring and frustrating fish. Hes only interesting if hes trying to stalk and kill my dwarf cichlids and rainbowfish. Hes too cowardly to hang out with my amphs and shreds my severums fins when hes in with them. Just a lose-lose-lose-lose situation fish. I think im just gonna throw him in the amph tank and just turn a blind eye one of these days.

My biggest disappointment is in myself. Years ago I had a hybrid (gasp) common creamsicle midevil that I gave up to a LFS as I had convinced myself that with limited tank space I should have a "pure" citrenellus, and not some mutt of mixed blood. He was an awesome fish, with as far as fish goes great personality. He wouldn't tolerate anything living with him in his 125, nothing, and would attempt to draw blood (sometimes successfully) whenever my hand/arm entered his domain. Yet at the same time he would take large pellets from my fingers one at a time, like a puppy, and not so much as a nip to my finger tips when I was feeding him. Years later I did get myself a pure cit, but I still think about that mutt all of the time.

I’m disappointed they don’t make oceanic tanks anymore. I’ve had too many water issues over the years (not always from tank issues) but never had an issue with an Oceanic. I see the same think with many pieces of equipment - the sad trend of making things of lower quality, just to the bare minimum, and often below. I also had a 10.5” female festae killed last month, which really broke my heart.

Resurrecting the dead here:

rift lake cichlids and their hold over the NECA

Marine fish other than triggers, puffers and angels

Discus/angels

Lack of availability of large format tanks

Heaters

Not being able to have an outdoor pond in the New England

Lastly that I don’t own the Rusty Wessel fish house
