No a banjar red is just a banjar red. As for the $2k, I can get $800 1st grade SR. Price varied from farms you have to remember that.

When small we won't know what grade they are but most farm just guest them and when we get them we hope to get them to turn red. Some do some not. As I said it again it's the quality of the fish.

For example a pair 1st grade SR breeds, then they have fry. Those fry will both have 1st grade and 2nd grade but we don't know that for sure yet till they are fully mature. Best guest with some clue of which one will turn out 1st grade to have much higher price the high quality ones. 2nd grade for much lower price as they are low quality. All of them are in Super red category. However some juvenile red that were graded as 2nd can sometimes turn out to be 1st grade or vise versa when they grow. Only when it's fully adult and in full color when we say 1st grade red (Chilli or blood red) or 2nd grade red (Orange red or yellow red). That's why you don't often see 2nd grade red labeled Orange red or yellow red) on certs as farms just best guest them or took the quality of the parents so we new owner would expect them to what it say on the cert. That's what I like about super red, they are full of surprises for us which is a challenge for us hobbyist.

so

if you buy a chili red and it doesnt turn red just orange then the farm is ripping you off by certing it as a chili red

thats what you are saying and 80% of the super grade reds below $2k are a rip off

this is making no sence

you say you can get good grade reds for $800 from who because i have not seen any

That would depend on which LFS you bought it from and which farm your LFS order them from. Also the country you are at as currency exchange can varied. Also as I said farms are just best guessing them because their parents is that certain arowana.

Pm you which farm.

I love all arowana for different reasons, but check my avatar for my absolute favorite :D

I LOVE the Amazon, so I'm going to have to pick the black arowana then silver arowana.

Asians are over rated and over priced.

ditto with yanfloist i think that the SA are gorgeous and you dont need a small loan to buy a nice one either lol not to mention they look like they "flow" through the water more gracefully

Yes i agree! why would you mess up with the silver reputation huh? Just for the record silver arowana is one of the most popular aquarium pet in the world...
