I recently bought an aqualcear 110 filter off amazon. It runs great and is so quiet for the amount of water flow. A long standing habit of mine is to do lots of water changes for my aquariums, to keep the fish healthy. So, for a long time now no carbon has been used in my aquariums. Yet, the filter came with a carbon pouch. Without the carbon, there is alot of free space inside the filter basket. What media does everyone use in their filters, specifically their aquaclear 110s?

Well I like the aquaclear sponge so that stayed. I don't use carbon. I've heard good things about their biobags but I'm cheap so I use the ac sponge, scrubbies for bio filtration, and filter fluff for mech filtration.

I run 2 on my 55 planted and 1 on my 75 gallon crayfish tank. All have sponges and BIO media. I've heard scrubbies are better when they aren't submerged, like in a trickle filter.

I use the ac110 on my 55. I double up on the sponge and toss the carbon and clean only 1 sponge in tank water every month.

I use 2 AC110 sponges per filter. I have 3 AC110s going currently set up like that. It works great, but the sponges do need to rung out on a regular basis (about every 2 weeks in my tanks, or they start to overflow onto the floor)

I have 2 on my 90g each have a sponge n packed to top with bio media. Just buy a box of bio media a week. The 110 box comes with 2 pouches for $8. When I had heavy tannis water I put a Purigen in it to. So much room. I alternate weeks n clean them out in old tank water. Gonna add filter floss to it next Td I clean them

I have 70's ....but...I double up on sponge....extra bio with 1 sponge would probably work just as well...
