Whats your next filtration upgrade?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm looking at either an XP3 or an Eheim classic 2217 series for Biological, and a Hot magnum for mechanical/water current.

Have an FX5 and and a wet/dry on a 250, working on a fuge as we speak and have an FB900 I might throw on there for S&G's.:naughty:

240gallon tank

2 aquaclears
and 1 fx4 canister.

Will be putting 2 x 1,200gph overflow boxes onto the tank.

and hooking them up to 2x 40 gallon wet dry filters.

in the w/d filter there will be.

Nano balls
sponges
filter floss
java moss
and some japanese style filter pads.

I have an Eheim 2260 and 2217 on my 180 and an Ehiem Pro II 2026 and FX5 one my 125, I think I am set/

519 gallon tank.

8x 1.5" bulkheads that feed into 4x 2" pipes. The 4x 2" pipes run into a 65 gallon mechanical sump with 4x 7" filter socks and 3 layers of filtering pad/sponge/floss. The 65 gallon mechanical sump feeds into a 65 gallon pump-house sump via 2x 4" bulkheads. The pump-house sump has 2x Quiet one 14000s that return back to the tank via 2x 1.5" return lines. There will also be a mag 12 in the sump that runs to a 27 gallon bio sump that has 15 gallons of 1" bio-balls in it. The bio-sump feeds back into the mechanical sump.I am going with the bio sump and a 2GPH continuous water change system.

The sumps will maintain a 40-50 percent water level and provide for spill over in case of a pump failure.

I was contemplating using 2x FBF filters, and a 12x 22" DIY coil denitrators, but that may be a future upgrade.

idk...some sort of DIY wet/dry i'm thinking. gotta research and see if using my 55 gal tank will be enough for a 10x4x3 or 8x3x3 and what else i would need.
