i don't care either way. i'd love for fw rays and asian aro's to be legal in ca, but if they're never made legal i won't care.

its boils down like this for me. i'm going to do what i want to do (as long as it isn't harming anyone else) and no law is going to stop me. the only law i break regularly is the speed limit. and i REALLY enjoy breaking it...lol. i used to have to be at work at 4am so i had the opportunity to take my 97 911 turbo or my ducati to the limit on the 405 freeway. i've been up to 175 in my porsche and 150 on my bike. doesn't harm anyone else, but is WAAAY illegal and, in my opinion, WAAAY fun.

now, back to the topic at hand. if i get by the right "bug" i may end up owning a couple fw rays or asian aro's. its not difficult to get ahold of one if you have been in this hobby for awhile and know a few people.and the laws here are so horribly enforced i wouldn't be afraid at all of getting in trouble.

how is you driving like a DB not going to harm anyone else. i had a friend that hit a family in a van while he was going 165 on is bike. it killed all 5 of them. good example though...:nilly:

if people want to keep illegals i dont really care as long as they take good care of them and dont release them.

My stand: Just because someone doesn't agree with a law doesn't give them the right to break it. If we all start to only obey what we feel like, where does that leave us?

If we all obey what they make us where does that leave us? NOT FREEDOM. If they make a law curfew 9pm 7 days a week, will you obey?

its not my problem too
each there own

I don't really care either way. I think as long as the fish are being properly cared for, it shouldn't really matter. If you own an illegal animal, you know what can happen if you get caught, so....... don't get caught.

Freedom is based on the law we live by. Without those laws we wouldn't truely be "Free". We (in the USA) elect those who put the law down.....you don't like how they do their jobs, vote different.

Except there is no true form of democracy anymore. Vote the wrong person in and they want a recount. They promise to do this for you and when they're there they don't. Usually make decisions against the american consensus about what should be done in favor of their own thoughts or money being brought to them by big business or a sure thing for votes in the next election. I could go on an on..

America is very crooked in goverment. So for that reason do I care when someone is keeping an asian arow in the u.s. when all of the uk and asia can have them? no not really.. Something like snakeheads was banned for a reason and there really is no one else to blame but bad hobbiests.

:iagree:

I agree with Zoodiver's point.

Also - Although some laws are not enforced to the letter, i think the spirit of the law must be respected. Thus - laws against keeping certain fishes (to my limited understanding) is usually because the goal is to:
1) Protect the viability of the Species if Endangered, or
2) To prevent dmg/devastate local indigenous populations of wildlife and fish.

which I am sure is the the same goal most ppl here believe in.

:D

Living by law isnt freedom. Each day they make more and more laws which slowly limit what you can do. I got arrested when I was 18 for swearing in public, how is that freedom? ( I said F you) Laws make revenue so they can buy what they want, they make stupid laws because they know people will always break them which gives them a constant supply of money. To serve and protect it is not. To steal and make wrong is.

As long as its not hurting the population of the species, and your not letting it go ever, than I dont care.

What I dont understand at all, Is if snake heads are illegal to own in florida ( almost all of u.s) than why cant we keep the ones we catch, its helping to get rid of the population of non-native fish in the wild. and Its balancing out the system.

:iagree:

Im going to catch wild jags and keep them. I hope thats not illegal, but if it is, oh well....
