Are Ameca splendens really extinct? I have kept those!
Their official classification is "extinct in the wild".
The reason?
Someone (i'm betting the USA was involved, personally) decided that they could feed a lot of starving mexicans by stocking the ponds and rivers that the ameca splendens was native to with small mouth bass.
The bass, of course, ate all the amecas.
Presto, extinct amecas, lots of small mouth bass.
Irresponsible government fish keeping right there.
On the plus side (sort of) nobody really paid any attention so they're still legal to own/raise as far as i know.
There are also some wild colonies in arizona, those of course came from the aquarium trade.
I'm not really sure how i feel about that.
150-175mph is *fast*, anything hit at that speed is highly dead.
However, on a bike or car that is built for it (like a ducati or a porsche), it isn't *that* dangerous if there isn't anybody else in the area.
Now if there were
any other cars, i officially don't like you much, as that isn't safe.
The rate you close with people at 175 (105mph...) doesn't really leave a lot of time for action, especially if they do something like move into the fast lane to pass another car.
On truely deserted roads however, thats fine with me.
I've only taken my car to ~110mph (89 honda prelude), and only when *nobody* was around.
I feel like it is my right to risk my own life.
It is not my right to risk anybody elses.
The unfortunate truth of fish is that the vast majority of the people in the world are no responsible. Actually thats really just the unfortunate truth of life, really.
Oscars will always be kept in 10g tanks, and goldfish will always be kept in bowls, and bettas will always be kept in cups.
All of the above will be dumped *somewhere* when they get too big, die, or become boring to their owner.
Do i hate it? Hell yes.
Can i do anything about it? Not really.
Bah.
