From Bloomington. :)

If its illegal, then you shouldnt be doing it. Plain and Simple!

Keeping it and not realeasing it.. pffttt.. If it threaten your status/reputation, even know you know its a wrong doing, most of you will end up doing it..

Let say, you own a 12" snakehead in this wonderful 200 Gallon tank in a nice beautiful home in CA, and your backyard faces a river.. For years its been peaceful.. One day, your neighbor come and ask for something, and he noticed that you own a snake head. Then your neighbor said he will report you.. Later that day, some officers come by.. (Knocks on your door) What will you do? Get the fine and get charge, and risk of going to jail? Release the fish and pretend nothing happen? ^^

Some of you said, I want to keep an illegal specie, as long as I dont release it, but what if this scenerio apply to you? What will you do? Id say it will probably end up in the river! ^^

It depends on the fish really, if the fish is endangered then I am STRONGLY against, if it's because of a federal law because of non-indigenous species being introduced... as long as you don't let them into the wild I could care less really!

first off all, lol at anyone from the govt reacting that fast. even if my neighbor were to make a threat like that i would tell them right then that if i was visited by the DFG and i had to get rid of my fish i would make there life a living hell (all by legal means of course). me owning an asian aro doesn't impact my neighbors life AT ALL and him doing that would only be out of malice, not for any heroic intent. besides, all DFG is going to do is kill the fish anyway.

second of all, some of the largest lfs here in socal sell illegal fish EVERYDAY. Gars, Wolfish, asian aro's, even snakeheads and fw rays on occasion. all DFG would have to do is make weekly trips to the LFS here in the OC and they could probably make more in one week than they do in an entire year when it comes to fining people.

but they don't. and as a result these fish are everywhere.

Lets get things right here...First of all Ameca splendens are still found in the wild but are very much threatened with extinction..It was not Smallmouth bass but Largemouth bass..

These Largemouth where Bucket dumps by locals and not Government sanctioned. The US nor Mexican government had nothing to do with this.

Get your facts straight

I never said who, just that it had been done.
I was guessing a government.
Sorry i got the mouth size wrong, the basic concept i was attempting to convey is still intact.

As i said, their official classification is extinct in the wild.
They are still found in the wild, in arizona, but to the best of my knowlage they no longer live in their origional waters.

They're doing decently in the hobby though.

EDIT:
How much do they sell for at that LFS?

Is that the one they have photos of on the customs website? If so its a pacu even tho' they still insist on labeling it as piranha. The chick holding it has the best "worried" look on her face.

Thats probably the one, Its BS how they are labeling it as a P just cause it looks similar (look out Silver Dollar owners). I didn't see a pic of the one in SA, just heard about it cause a guy my brother works with got spooked and sold of alot of his fish really cheap. Offered me some free P's and a nice Flowerhorn but I told him no, not that fond of P's and I dislike hybrids.
