what's your worst purchase

Everything I ever owned in my childhood..
Until my mid-teens I had to "share" tanks with the family so anything anyone wanted just got thrown together and if something died my parents just bought more :\
It did teach me to do my research at least before I got fish again.

Since then the "chinese butterfly" my hubby got me. HUGE mistake, did my best but that thing was doomed and the petstore soon quit selling them.
Then the raph cats I kept rescuing from the store I later managed (and I never ordered them again). I couldn't stand watching them waste away so I kept buying them really skinny even though I didn't have room. They finally got their own tank, once in a while I catch them out or I sneak in when it's dark so I can see them. Still, they were a mistake, you should never give in to pity purchases..

Ask me in another year how I feel about the electric cat. He's grown from a wormy 4" to a very thick 9" or so in a year and he scares me a little, lol. I block one end of his favorite cave if I have to work in the tank.
 
Bought a RTC. It was way cool, but I did not fully appreciate how big it got. I got luckier than most and found a lfs willing to put it in a large display tank (which was bigger than my 240 but not big enough for a RTC). The RTC was only about 15" at the time. I left my number with them and told them that I would take it back rather than them selling it to someone with a 55 or something. The place closed down about a year later, and I never heard from them. I often wonder what happened to it. Still feel guilty for that. I am a wee bit smarter now tho.
 
prob when i went to the fish store asked for a jewel cichlid and they gave me a green terror
wasn't till it started going after all my fish i realized what it was.
 
I have 2 purchases I regret. 5 neon tetras, poor little guys became feeder fish. Secondly a silver and black spotted catfish (I don't remember the species name), but it was the fish that made the neon tetras feeder fish along with others.

my worst would have to be a pair of black sharks those bastards killed 2 poly's by sucking the slime coat off ...... killed the kuhlil loaches killed the shrimp that ate all my plants. killed the Chinese algae eaters lets just say just all around bad buy

Second worst buy is the Victoria secret body spray i bought my wife my son threw in my wife's gold fish tank killed every 1

my 3rd is in the making this so called redtail catfish which looks nothing like the pics i saw on line (he's a dark color with really long white whiskers) judging by every 1 else bad experience im gon find a new home b4 i start missing fish
 
leporonius? i think that's how it's spelled. killed a bunch of my fish i had for years. bad rescue on behalf. shoulda flushed the f**cker
 
Mine was a Jewel Pike Cichlid....I loved that little aggressive fish, then it started to eat feeders along with the flowerhorns and then it ate the blue lobster.........still I forgave it and it got bigger and bigger and bigger and one day it swallowed a jardini arowana. Off to the pet shoppe you go buddy!
 
Mine was a Pictus catfish.

Dont laugh.

He was fine for about a year, until one night he turned on seven tiger barbs.

He was so fat the next morning, moved him to a different tank, gonna try to move him back in with the tiger barbs once they've grown a bit more.
