what's your worst purchase

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeh man...i myself use to house about 8 snakheads. all of which had to be transferred to a pond. they were all well over 3 feet and were extremely scary. they kept breaking through the metal mesh at the top of the pond. and I had to be the one to catch them and put them bak. my mum couldnt take it anymore so she gave them to a zoo..phew...scxary though. definitely not fish for the faint hearted,,,,i kept giant snakeheads and channa marilius (aka. toman bunga)

$70 sunshine pleco. twenty minutes after he arrived at LFS after 76 hours in a container. died 6 hours after purchase and was credited $15. wonderful.

An Emperor Angel that a friend gave me when closing his tanks. Wiped out all the fish and coral in my 220 within 2 months.

No good deed goes unpunished!

my first 29g tank and like 40-50 or so,assorted tetras, tiger barbs, asst neons, asst mollies, swordtails, cories, gouramis, balaswho knows what else(like 3 plecos) and a bubble eye goldfish, with mixed neon gravel, 1 ac filter.which I took home and set up w/all these fish immeadiatley
when most of those died, I thought those little pacus where kinda cool, got 2, then saw my wifes friends' full grown oscars and got 4 of those and a jd, I still like oscars
the first 2 I ever bought ended up a pair, after I had some bigger tanks (got rid of the pacu after like 6 weeks skittish fast growing ugly bastards) got some (4)albino channel cats @2" in 5 months where like 15" got rid of 2@ 8-9"
I managed to find a purple oscar and I one day I hear a big splash and turned to see that one of the cats had power-rammed my superrare 6" purple oscar into the side of my tank killing him instantley, they were traded the next day for a re devil. after he terrorized my oscars, is when I started doing real research.(I did however read every peice of oscar info I could find when I first got them)
sory for the long winded post

purp,le oscars arent rare. they're dyed fish. people just inject paint into them.

True purple oscars are very rare and not a dyed fish at all.
They are actually believed to be gone from the hobby and if anyone is lucky enough to come across this fish should purchase it imediatley.
Purple Oscars have been wild caught and are rarely heard of.
