what's your worst purchase

I'm not sure what my worst fish purchase would be but my worst aquarium purchase would be a live plant (Java). I've never had any diseases in my tank except once when I first got into this hobby and that was ick. Last year I decided to try a live plant out in my tank and a day or two later I woke up to find my tank extremely cloudy and 8/11 fish were dead. Found out that my fish had some kind of fungus infection. The only new thing that I did was add that plant so that's what I'm blaming for that infections lol.
My pH was also VERY acidic and couldn't get that to change even when all the other water tests were good. Ended up having to drain my whole tank and starting over. Haven't had a problem since that and my Bala shark (who I've had for 8 years), two polypterus, and a Gourami (6 years) are still alive =]

Must be 36 years ago, when I was 17, my first Discus, see what happened because of that.................. lost my country, my wife,............

and you know what???? I'm happy :headbang2

Mine had to be... kribensis! annoying little buggers, had then in a tank that i put a baby Oscar in with but they were so annoying! they just looked weak and pathetic so all the time i was just waiting for them to die as i couldn't take them back to the shop :(

Hmmm,
My daughter really loved these adorable dwarf spotted puffers that quickly went to work wiping out all her fiddler crabs. After a few weeks we thought they would just keep to themselves and were simply not fast enough to nip the cichilds and not brave enough to nip anything too big.
Wrong, they trashed 40% of the fins off a silver arowana before being moved to a new tank.
That is what is deserved when you buy a fish from walmart!!!!!
Nevermind the dragon goby that appears to be dead everyday and does nothing but hide,, well and lie around looking dead.

Pentair Aquatics Customflo Complete System.

I got an eheim 2260 for a real good deal but didnt have any output or intake equipment except for tubing so I thought buying this for $45 would be a good idea since it has everything I needed. All the eheim stuff goes for a lot more than that. Little did I know all the right angles restricted flow too much for my 950 gph pump and too much for the ventauri nozzle to work unless it was the only return - aka no spray bar or directional current if you want aeration.

They also take up a TON of space in the aquarium for no reason...a lot of extra unnecessary plastic. The suction cups are crappy plastic that get worn out and dont work and turn brown after a few weeks. Also the instructions on it are terrible. It could work for a smaller pump, but smaller pump would imply smaller tank, and this kit would take up a ton of space and look bad in the tank. Do not buy!

mine would be buying green spotter puffers and putting into my brackish tank with a goby dragon. my goby didn't live to see morning ):

next would be ALL my mother buys for me.
I had to senegal(sp?) bichers, I let her put in some mollys, okay the did fine.
She put in a shunbukin(sp?), the f***er ATE ALLLLLL my bichlers food I put in,
even when I bought it its own food, put SO much anmonia in my tank, not even
water changes and chemical would bring it down past a 1.3, basically all in all
it killed everything, ATE one of the mollys and then I killed it intentionally.

six line wrasse had it for 2 days before brain coral got to it
