That's ****ing terrible. Also taking them out of water and letting them die like that is terrible. Use clove oil and cut off his head. Almost any other way is torture.

0_o Chopping off heads sounds harsh....I'd say use Clove Oil and then stick him in the freezer. Fish can't shiver(it's a warm blooded reaction) while it's asleep its body will shut down and then stop. No chopping nescesary(sp) Sorry mate

just take him out of the tank and put him in a bucket with no water and then just wait that what i had to do with my 11" fire eel...

Make it quick and painless. Butcher knife to the spinal cord, or clove oil. Any other way your going to cause more suffering. Sorry you have to deal with this, But sometimes you have to suck up your faint of heartness and do the humane thing.

Yes, why all this talk of chopping off heads? Clove oil sedates then kills completely. Clove oil is all you need to euthanize a fish.

Not always. It puts them to sleep but doesn't kill them. Some fish will die but hardier fish like oscars will simply be put to sleep.

Thanks guys T___T. I guess I really do have to put him down now... I'll go buy clove oil tomorrow, too late for tonight. They have it in a grocery store, don't they?

I'll probably numb him with a lil clove oil, then overdose him with more clove oil afterwards (or vodka if i still have some left ), and to make sure put him in the freezer as well...

It looks like he won't make it to tonight though... He's just floating right now, occasionally swimming. I feel bad that I have to let him through another night suffering... =(

he's like this floating at the corner. i don't have the clove oil right now.. and i dont want to chop any head... should i put him in the freezer tonight? or wait til tomorrow to get the clove oil...?
