If they are asleep they dont feel anything...Cold-blooded animals dont feel cold really there systems just slow down till a stop....Having the head cut off IMO is worse

They still feel the cold. Their systems will start to slow and shutdown and it is painful. Ever had kidney or liver failure? Hurts like a *****. My bio professor ( who is a zoologist as well) did research on the effects of cold on fish and reptiles and explained this to me because I had to euthanize a fish and wanted to do it right. If you use clove oil they won't feel it but if you don't they suffer. Even without clove oil a quick severing of the spinal column is the most humane way to go. They feel nothing and it is quick.

x2
Just put them in a bag and put cubes of ice in bit by bit. It will slow down their heartrate and then they will just pass. Or you can put a bunch of ice cubes in and in that case they will get frantic for a few seconds then swim upside down and sink down to the bottom. I had to put down my other Butti cause the one I have now wouldnt let him eat and chewed his fins off. He looked miserable

Why didn't you just quarantine him and then find him a new home?
