They shouldn't be a problem as long as they aren't too aggressive. Most dempseys I've seen are rather timid. Just make sure they are too large to fit into the bichirs mouth.

No Jack dempsey! They are one of the most aggresive cichlids! they are very territoral. you'll need at least a 75 gal tank to have bichir and dempsey to gether.

electric blue dempsey not a regular jack, they're much less aggro. it'll be fine calm down haha

No, some bichirs max out at less than 20". In fact I would say most of the upper jaw species are less than 20".

Palmas palmas - 13"
Palmas polli- 14"
Palmas buettikoferi - 13"
Delhezi - 14"
Senegalus - 12"
Retropinnis - 14"

Figures by Beblondie

most take forever to grow to that size. i have yet to lay my eyes on any of those over 10" and probably would lay my hands on it if i did.

i reccommend sengals, albinos, shortbodied sengal/albino, and long fin sengal/albino, if you want ones that stay small.

Ive chosen to get a senegal..but i will be ordering online..

albino senegals only get to 8 in.
