Considering how many variants there are to the Melonhead story, I highly doubt its real.
there was a real asylum .. ive seen it .. the deformity is real ... however the melonheads still being alive and trolling the woods i belive is 110% fake

The only thing that makes 0,1% of me have a slight belief in cryptids.. Why do they look so alike? With some cryptids it is easy, eg people are scared of snakes so most sea monsters are depicted as giant, snake-like creatures. But, Nessie and Mokele-Mbembe for example are both often described as a creature similar to a plesiosaurus, several thousand miles away from each other.
Source? A sperm whale or a giant squid? Either way both are identified. Also, are we talking of anything deeper than 3kms? That's the farthest sperm whales can dive.
If there is anything big out there, it can only be a mollusk which we all know now as the giant squid. The extreme pressure and cold temperature will surely kill anything of significant size. The rigid structures like bones or exoskeletons will surely be crushed. Limitations brought on by physics and the evolutionary history of animals has taught us that such creatures are very unlikely.
here a few things i pulled together off the net

Its said that deep in the Michigan woods strange mutants live, and are a result of an evil scientist (Dr Crowe) Frankinstine like tests. Its said that he was employed after WW2 to study hydrocephalia, a condition that is usually found in children, where huge amounts of fluid can build up in the brain causing the head to become hideously enlarged. .
Sounds like decreasing temperature also plays a significant role in how big things can get. Makes me wonder what we are missing out on underneath the antarctic ice sheets
Nothing.. The only food abundant under the ice is krill and we know what eats krill.
