Im from TX and I live by the trinity river and i have seen the devastation of the fish stock because of gars so i would not put any gar in there i would stick with the florida largemouth channel cat NO BOWFIN maybe some bigmouth buffalo NO CARP!! white/black crappie and some species of panfish all a good mix

And this is why alligator gars were/still are getting persecuted by humans: People get all afraid that their precious bass and other sport fish will get wiped out by the gars when they actually help to keep the whole system in balance by preventing overpopulation of those sport fish. Gars have been in the waterways of North America much longer than these other fish (except for other primitive fish such as the sturgeon), and they play a vital role where they naturally occur.

Also, the suggested fish sound like a major case of overstocking waiting to happen.

I'd do one gator gar and just throw in convicts daily along with pellets and fish fellets, etc. Essentially treat it like it was another tank in my room. Except its a pond.. outside.. lol.
