Which would be the best candidate to start off with as a juvi to develop into a glassbanger FH or buttikoferi?

Depends on tank size, but out of the two options you said i would have to say Flowerhorn... a Dovii would be better but..

Ya I know but that type of behavior is normally CA/SA territory thats why I posted it here. Not much glassbanging in africans and FH forum is all about strains and colors

Buttikoferi are brilliant fish and im planning on adding one two my 8x4 when its setup.
I would go with the flowerhorn.
Or for some real glassbanging get both, in seperate tanks, then put the tanks next to eachover! lol

If you want a glassbanger just walk up and punch your aquarium, because you obviously have no need for a fish.
