Which is the most aggressive SA/CA cichlid in your experience/opinion?

I cannot understand why this thread was made a Sticky.

I find this rather insulting to the more experienced cichlid keepers. The question, "Which SA/CA cichlid is the baddest?" is undoubtedly a naive question that is practically impossible to answer definitively. Just look at the number of variables involved. Individual personality, inherent species-specific attitudes, environment, food (yes, cichlids raised on live feeders tend to become more aggressive than their pellet-raised counterparts), etc. Moreover, how are aggression levels "measured"? If a particular fish attacks another and trounces it, it could easily because the loser is a wuss, instead of the attacker being overly aggressive. If a particular fish attacks fingers, it could be because the owner has a habit of sticking his hands in the aquarium - because cichlids are intelligent enough to remember where food comes from, in this case the surface of the water, that particular fish attacked probably because it saw the finger as food, not as an intrusion upon its territory.

It is therefore impossible to confer the title of "Baddest Cichlid" on a single species.

Read my reasoning in previous post. Many people don't stop complaining about the same topic popping up every few months which is why I have merged over a dozen of threads and come up with a sticky to stop the surge of more complaints. This situation is getting old which is why I stuck this up to avoid repetitive problems. I'll be glad to remove the sticky status but until then, the thread will remain in this position to curb off similar problems.

With so many complaints about this topic discussed over and over, I will consider sticking this unless there is a reason not to. Please stay on topic and enough complaining about duplicate topics. I will merge all incoming similar threads here.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!

Why not ban this topic altogether? Personally I do find this very naive. I don't think the more reputable cichlid keepers on this site such as Darth Odo even bother to take a look at such threads, and that shows how redundant and, yes, naive - for the third time - this particular topic is.

There is nothing wrong with this topic to warrant it a ban. If it should be banned, other topics like 'what is the friendliest fish' should be banned as well. The staff here strives to remain consistent in keeping the forum in order. Whether you find it naive or not, this thread will remain in lieu of the previous situations that complicated this subject. Hercrenvie, you have the option to ignore this topic. If you don't like it, please do not continue derailing this topic.

Your first statement that it is insulting is opinionated. Did you conduct a survey to come up with the percentage of those who found this 'insulting'? Frankly, this thread was simply a survey to see who finds which fish as the most aggressive in their experience. There is nothing wrong in sharing their experiences and opinions. Opinions and facts are always shared around forums. Your opinion alone will not count as the majority.

I am aware many factors are to be considered with which to influence their behaviors. All the posts here of which is the most aggressive cichlid are subjective and will vary. No single cichlid would be the most aggressive cichlid.

We've gone far in this debate and I do not wish this thread be riddled with any more debates about the position of this thread. If you want to continue your conversation, please PM me.

Thread title has been changed per the points of Hercrenvie. Thanks for pointing that out, Hercrenvie and my apologies for cutting across rather bluntly than I intended it.

I would have to say my jaguar cichlid in my collection he is 4'' nasty lil bugger just today he has killed 3 convicts same size as him by just tearing their heads off and leaving the body's.
but out of every american i would have to say umbee i watched a 4'' one kill a 7'' red devil and i mean it this red devil would usually eat this sized stuff up 4 breaky

Now don't sleep on the little convict if they got as big as jag and red devils. They would be unstoppable. But i believe the it's out of the jags, flowerhorns, red devil, and festae

Flowerhorn hands down, they can tear **** up

prob dovii or umbee
