ok ive decided its either going to be a diamond gold piranha or a regular black rhom. lets work with that. any suggestions from these two?
the only difference is gonna be in the appearance, cuz thats all those names mean, it's all personal preference... if you like the looks of a jet black rhom, go with the "regular" black rhom, if you like all the glittery scales and don't mind paying more money for the same type of fish, get a "gold diamond" rhom

Ok just curious to any gold diamond keepers, do they lose their light gold color as the mature into the darkish body with red eyes?
it all depends on the individual fish, but most of the times with "diamond" rhoms, the background color of the fish will darken as it gets older, but it will still be covered in the glittery scales... all rhoms will have the red eyes tho

The gold diamond is a like an albino rhom. The 7" one I had was light in color similiar to an albino snake. Not much glitter was on the fish.

Here's a few photos of my 3" black rhoms (6 mths ago) eating...

I haven't had any gold diamonds but do have other two diamond variants. IMO they are all great fish, just depends on which one you like better. each fish will have different personality so some will be glass banger right from the start, some will open up slowly as it get use to you, some will take much longer time to get use to you and some may never come out of its shell; same applies to all rhombeus, not matter it's diamond, xingu or jet black variants. personally I don't care if it's a finger chaser or not (the more it bangs on the glass the higher the chance of it develop a chimple and/or hurt itself) as long as it looks good to me and eats well, I'm happy.
here are some pix of my diamond variants, first two are my 12" black diamond (second one is when I first got it in 75g, first one is after it found comfort in 180g) and the other ones are my 8" blue diamond. just put them here to try to make your decision making a little bit harder :)
