Which tank would you pick?

i worry about glass leaking. Silicone isn't strong

I respectfully disagree here. many of us have had glass tanks last 20+ years on the original seals..if properly made a siliconed glass tank is very strong and will last for decades.

I would go with the glass one easily.

yes, it will be a pain to move. my 165g is over 300 pounds but unless you move often, you set the tank in place and it sits there for 20 years.

if you move often you might want to consider a smaller setup IMO.

id do the 210 myself. id guess that glass to be at least 1/2" any less and id be pretty weary. my 50 is 3/8 and bowed when i had it full. my 106 now is 1/2 and is solid.

Well, the tanks are pretty much the same size to me (210 vs 240, cmon 30 gallons!?)

With the Uhaul, expect to factor in another $100 (I know they advertise $20 rentals, but it never turns out that way!)

Does anything else come with the 210? Heaters, bubblers, lights? If it does, then what you'll have to purchase will be minimal. With the 240, sounds like you'll be doing a great deal of shopping for supplies.

If the guy delivers the 210, I wouldn't give him much, maybe $50.

So if we just pretend that the prices will be about the same: (450 + 100, vs, 500 + 50), and we say the tanks are the same size, then it's all about what comes with it. If the 210 comes with more stuff, then get the 210!

You don't seem to reallize how much of a difference an extra 30 gallons makes. Believe me when the two tanks are side-by-side, it's pretty obvious that they aren't "pretty much the same size". ;)

And just to chime in once more...it only took three of us to move my 240g glass tank into the house...Just suck it up and git-er done! :)
Yeah, it really isn't that difficult to move a large glass tank as long as you have help. My dad, myself, and my sister (who is probably about 5'4" and 110lbs) were able to get my 225 gallon into the house and onto the stand without too many problems.

Oh I forgot to mention that the guy selling the 210g said he might be able to deliver it for me for an extra fee, but the guy selling the 240g said he couldn't and I would have to rent a u-haul truck to move it.

Thanks for the replies so far and please keep em coming.
not to mention a small army of men...
