You can get black diamond blasting media at Tractor Supply Co. it's 50lbs for $8
My sand is super white so you can see everything sitting on it. It also seems to be making my JD's stressed because it is so bright. PFS is brown/tan so it doesn't reflect as much light back up making the tank too bright.

I've had a couple setups with white sand. Love the look but keeping clean visually can be a pain.

PFS. If I could do it again I would go with black sand because I hate looking at pleco poop.
That looks great, I especially like your led lighting, what are you using?
White sand and pea gravel. I use a litter box shovel to place pea gravel where I like.

I'm using the Marineland 36" Double Bright LED and am pretty pleased with it. I like the shimmering effect you get with it but that can annoy some people. So far its been capable of growing low light requirement plants and it the heat sink stays cool to the touch1. No complaints.
