WHO HAS THE BIGGEST? or Can you beat this?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Where exactly is going to take a fish this size near me? The last ck I tried to re home was torn to pieces by the inhabitants in the 1200 gallon tank that I brought him to. Do you know what is like to try and rehome something like this here? There are no options for me at the moment, being in south Florida, where there are so many large and unwanted cks. I will not just turn him loose, nor will I place him in the hands of someone like the last person I trusted. When I move, I will have either a large pond, or much larger tank. For right now this is it. So stop treating me like I'm abusing an animal that I deeply care about because his tank is 2 inches too narrow. He started in a 30, then I got a 55, now I have the 125. When I can upgrade, I will. So no, I'm not ignorant. I'm trying. It's better than I can say for most people in my area that just dump unwanted fish in a pond or canal.

Hey bro, sounds like you know what you are doing, and I do believe you are taking care of this fish as best under the not so ideal conditions. And you are probably right, you can take care of this fish better than anyone else because you do care for it (emotional attachment) and you do plan on upgrading. It's a beautiful specimen and it looks healthy. I am sure it will be even more stunning once you upgrade. Best of luck. :)

Not saying you were wrong about the fish being too large, just the measurements. As of right now the fish is healthy and has been for a few years. I got both fish together. I'm assuming since you listed the price in pounds this pool is across the pond from me. I'm in Florida, usa.

Ebay has a .com version too and after a brief look a couple days ago, they have some on there. Take a look for yourself. Ebay has a US version.

Lol, you said the width of the tank is 18".. then you said the fish is 20".. I could be wrong but I believe 20-18 = 2 ... Therefore the fish is 2" too big. I said 4" in the post earlier because the fish shouldve been upgraded at 16"..

How are you not a noob, if your responses are like this? If you were not a noob, you would know exactly what is wrong.

Put an ad on Craigslist (local) and ask somebody who can adequately house the fish, to give it a good home - get some money for it if you want - it's a beautiful fish - but, don't be blinded by your assumptions that you know what you are doing; you don't.

You can make a pond out of some pine boards and plastic sheeting, for about $40, which is way less than an aquarium in fact - and you can designate your own width and length.

Please start a new thread if you actually are serious about caring for your fish, and we can help you - let's stay on track here.

Say what? Did you not listen as to what happened to his last CK going to a "good home"? Why u got to personally attack the guy and call him a noob? $40 to make a pond? Really? And why you say he's not serious about taking care of his fish? Yes, the width of that tank is not "ideal" by far, but we got that already. Dude with CK knows that and acknowledges that already. Get over it.

sorry for derailing.

Here's Starbuck - my female pink Osphronemus goramy - very hard to measure her - but until I get a better measurement, I'll say 16 inches - only 2 years old, and has her 300g all to herself.StarbuckANGRYJanuary2014.JPG

Just have to say some who are harping on the guy's tank size have over crowded tanks themselves.

Sadly, typical.

My advice to K is to ignore rantings and dog pilings on the net ;)

If you are talking about myself in regards to the stock on my profile, that's not even what I've got anymore, not to mention the fact that when I did have that, they were juvies lol.. Just ain't bothered changing it on my profile but I fail to see the "rantings and dog pilings".

I made a point, he responded in turn and so on and so forth. At the end of the day, the point wasn't to make him feel like a noob or anything of the sort but if the fish is too big for the tank, then chances are people will say so especially when it's posted on a thread which is all about the largest fish which owners are caring for correctly and are proud of said fish... of course someone will mention the fact.

Either way, I tried to suggest a possible cheap upgrade for him so that it doesn't put him out of pocket etc.

That would be she. Lol.

None of our tanks are big enough for our fish. We try to convince ourselves that they are. They don't come close to a lake or river or ocean. The Ck looks healthy and she will do the right thing.

Actually, Ebay is an American company, so yes....OBVIOUSLY it has a .com version :screwy:.

What you meant to say was that www.ebay.co.uk also exists...as an afterthought to the original Ebay here in the US. Basically we have Ebay (first) and you guys have it too (second).

Didn't want you thinking Ebay was a British thing...setting the record straight. Carry on.
