I love ultralite fishing,I fish for LMB, i feel its stupid to be catching 1-5 lb bass on heavy line. Pros use like 16lb test (60 when its braid), come on. but i guess I would too if it were to get me the big bucks. But plenty of people use heavier line when I feel its not necessary. I have two ultralite combos that I use for almost any occassion, one with 2lb test (5' 6 rod), my shimano 500 symetre, and a 500 sedona with 4lb test (5ft rod). Of course I do run a leader (normally 8-12lb test) and put my drag loose, but thats they key to successful ultralite fishing, and its a blast pulling in 3lbers and having them rip drag like 10+. The hard part with 2lb test is once its freighed that 2 dwindles quick, also fishing cover aint the best, which is why I have my 4lb test :). Who else here does UL fishing, post your combos and some fish you caught on it. Heres some of mine, the last one is my buddies 23 inch bass on 2lb test

i do ultra light fish ,but most of the time i use ten pound test so i dont loose ten doller lures.

Yea, gotta admit thats one of the downfalls, but it also motivates you to perfect your technique

I hear that, I knew you guys would appreciate him, hes the coolest little ocell I've ever caught. But theres no more up this far north after the cold snap :(.

BTW the thrid to last pic is of an 18inch bowfin, I was in my kayak and didnt want him sliming it up and thrashing about so I didnt get a pick of him in the boat

ya but the pike and pickeral up here have very long and sharp teeth so i use a 4 inch steel leeter some times.

Yea thats why i avoid gar, plus theyre not really a game fish, theyre cool but more trouble than theyre worth.
