I ultralite, but with spiderwire or something similar.

Well thats defeating the purpose lol, an unbreakable ultralite lol, although I have seen actual 2lb fireline(not twolb diameter), but I hear its so thin its hard to fish with.

before I discovered that line I used to fish with 2-6 lb depending on the fish.

Shimano ax100 I think the reel was and berkley rod. stinger I think it is.

I like the challenge of the light rod/reel more than the line challenge. The fireline or whatever is just to keep from losing fish. You still have to finesse it not to break the rod or strip the reel.

Thats true, braided line is great but I've broken rods with it before cause it doesnt snap

I fish with 10-15 pound power pro. Which is light for up here because pike still break me off like nothing.

But for fun fishing I run with the 2 foot ultralight ice fishing rod with 2 pound test, try landing a small mouth bass with that I can tell you its not easy. But one time I did hook a steelhead with it and ive never had my line snap so fast then it cam shooting out the air with my line trailing.

i like to use an ultrlite rod an real wen i gosaltwater fishing keep in mind im not deepsea fishing but fishing from a small point an love catcing spot an small fish like that . its like im hooked into a monster every time

currently runnin an ugly stick with some ok shimano reel... with 4 lb test..

buying a ul st croix and nice reel soon...

Haha, yea ice rods arent easy to use, I bought one once thinking itd be fun for UL fishing but its not worth it, no rod power and hard to cast with, maybe it just takes some getting used to, i lik5 or 5 6 rods, sometimes I'll hook up my 4lb combo to my 6' 6 rod when saltwater fishing for added power.
