Ha.. No secrets really, just be nice to your fish! Had them in a 110 gallon, pH 7.2-7.5, 50% water change every other week. They were fed a variety of frozen and dry foods (biogold+, flakes, plankton). If I was to point to one food that I think made a difference, it was red wrigglers. I fed them as a treat almost every day. Oh and lots of filtration.. :)
 
Here is my pair, she is not colored up at all in the pic. They are about 7 years old, she's 5 1/5" he's 6 1/2". I have had them since they were 1".

Thanks guys, I have been getting a little freaked out though. Although both fish are still full of energy, they are pretty old. I dread the day they go to fishy heaven. Again thanks, these guys have made meeki one of my favorites.

yeah from what I read and have heard fm that come from different areas in the wild are reder then others I have heard that ones that come from the "Rio Subin" get the reddest
