Who Said Impossible? Planted Oscar "Community" Tank Video

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thought i'd give a quick update. i moved the red eyed tetras to my 29gal planted tank because i thought it looked too crowded in the 125g. everyone else is still doing well. two of my bolivian rams spawned and laid eggs today as well, althought it was a fluke and i wasn't trying to get them to spawn. still interesting nonetheless. the oscar doesn't really seem to care for being bullied by a 3" ram defending the territory, it should be an interesting night to see if everyone makes it out unscathed.

Nice...I didn't think it looked overcrowded, but thats just me. Keep us updated, nice tank and stock. Looks very good :)

Nice, I actually had an Oscar that was well known long ago on other forums that also wouldn't eat small fish. All my cichlid fry would grow out with him and he would not eat a one. however, if I dropped a crawfish in the tank it would not hit the bottom. Some fish just are the exception to the rule. Your Oscar seems to be as was mine and my current Midas they is also in a planted tank. Feel free to check out that thread, it's just acouple days old.

they also just stayed at the surface which bothered me too, there is a much nicer multi-level balance now.

here are a few not-so-great pics of the eggs. i am amazed at how brave the male ram is. he won't let the female near the eggs either now that she is done laying them.

That's awesome.
Love the setup.

I've always said impossible... Well done you! The tank looks great! My oscars always ripped up plants for fun, the dithers must be keeping them entertained!
