I can say that both fish love the plants. I imagine the stripes of the datnoid are there to help it blend in with aquatic plants in the wild.

I topped the sand with black substrate but the fish just mix it in. For my next tank (300 gallong), I'll be using black substrate for sure.

It looks much cooler, also make a central piece (wood) an work the plants around it

Great job! its nice to see large fish in a very nicely planted aquarium instead of a bare tank. I love the set up

same, i'd prefer a planted and/or landscaped tank with smaller fish then a bare tank with a few big fish any day. nice job doing what many people believe is impossible.

Here are few more pics of the fish. Trying to get a pic with all three fish is difficult. IT Datnoid, Hybrid Peacock and Ornate Bichir, especially since the ornate is nocturnal and comes out an hour before the lights go out.
