Who thinks bubbles/bubble walls/air stones/bubblers are a necessity in a fish tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not necessary at all, as long as there is adequate water agitation and dissolved oxygen.

Yea I hate hate hate the look of them. I have troubles finding a definition of surface agitation. I know with the HOB filter that was enough but what enough with say a canister filter pointed up ? Does it have to splace? just make a wave a cm aboave the water surface?

One person pro bubbles lol. So I think my Fx5 Fine filtering pads are cloging because normally they make a bit more waves then this but both nozzles are pointed up and this is what it looks like.

One reason why I hate bubblers I can find black tubing and little suction cups for them but the stone, or bubble wall things are allways green or something stupid that stick out like a sore thumb. It would be cool if it was black and looked like bubbles where coming out of no where... Secondly Im afraid of them failing and my tank draining because of the neg pressure it will suck all the water out. Im not worried about noise I have carpeted floors in my basement so it doesnt vibrate.

You might want to keep one on hand in case you ever have a reason to warm the water.

You should always have an Airline check valve in the lines to prevent water from draining. they're CHEAP:

I agree that the color of most wands & stones suck. Those, I hide with slate rocks etc.
Here's link to some dark diffusers. any kind you can dream of. rofl:

I have tried to believe that bubble/aerators are outdated, but there must be more addicts out there besides me: just look at the list of diffusers on that page. LOL.
