I would love to try it as well. However, you're history is a bit off. As I understand it.......It was originally brought over to try to control and clear some of the swampy lands of and near the everglades, then when the population got out of control the government decided to run a campaign advising that it was good to eat. They had hoped the locals would help control the population by feeding on them. Cheap easy source of a good protein!
