Geez, how can you justify the $5000 tag? I mean, who decides how much they should be worth? Man, I just don't get it. I never really understood just how exactly pricetags are put on fish. Who decides that they should be such and such a price? $5000 for a fish? Was it life threatening to get them? Are they really that rare? I just can't imagine any fish really being worth $5000. Best of luck to you, hope someone who has a lot of money and not too much common sense gets these from you!! Would be great to see them!!

it's simple Supply and Demand. Rare fish limited quantities so the price is high. As for the exact price they want to sell it for, then that is up to the seller. How would you justify paying $5000 for it? Simple. It's how bad you want the fish. It's just like saying your paying $150 for a rare fish and you try explaing that to a beginer in the hobby who thinks spending $10 on a fish is a lot. It's all about being in certain levels in the hobby. So obviously if you just can't imagine paying that much for a rare fish like this, then you're just not at that level yet.

People have def. paid much more for a fish....

Peanut - Imagine getting the chance to own a VERY rare one of a kind never before seen PIKE!:)

or a super simple way of putting it.....

-Buyer sees fish. WANTS IT BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD

-Seller doesn't really want to sell or maybe he feels like becoming $5000 richer for each fish her parts with.

-Seller decides to throw out his price.

-Buyer WANTS FISH BAD! doesn't give a **** what the price is. Buys them all and is happy.

-Seller sold fish at the price he wanted to get and is happy.

-Everyone is happy

So let's all buy some fish!!!

BUMP!!!!!!

i also agree with The Trust's remarks. $5000 may seem like a lot for a fish, but if you know about this fish and know how rare they are, AND really want/like the fish, then it's worth that to you, and you'd be willing to pay it. it's not a fish for everyone, and as stated earlier people have paid much more for fishes. think of "Snowy" the Australian lungfish.

the fish is worth the price to the person who is willing to pay that price. great fish for sure, and also as stated by richard earlier, the normal specimens are quite impressive themselves :)

THIS is THE Tropical gar order people (the one that i previously advertised), get in on it while you can as they don't come around very often :) --

Still don't understand how the number $5000 was reached? Just cracks me up, cuz I don't understand how they decide, 'Oh, this one should be about $4000 to $5000. I understand about wanting to get a fish, and being a certain level of fishkeeping, but there is a point where some people are FORCED to be cut off at. I personally can't afford anything like that, probably ever because of my income. I wouldn't mind owning one, but i wouldn't pay that for it. As for the pikes, if there is ever a pike like that that is worth $5000 i hope someone else is happy with it because i can barely justify paying $600 for an ultra rare pike, let alone a $5000 one...haha.

All I was wondering was how it was decided that $5000 was the price? I mean how do you label a fish price wise? ANY fish? Some of them are understandable, like this white gar..to a certain extent. But some of it still baffles me. Oh well! LETS GET THE BALL ROLLING!! T GARS BABYY!!!

If you still don't understand the super easy verion the SUPER SUPER SUPER EASY VERSION of how they came up with the price is.......

A number just popped into the sellers head out of nowhere and he's rolling with that number because it sounds like a nice amount of money to have.

That last super super easy version is much more acceptable...haha. I am just picturing someone selling green terrors when they first started being imported for $100 a pop...haha

Don't forget that the vendor pays a certain amount of money for the fish and to bring the fish in as well. He deserves to make money on top for his efforts, otherwise, he'd be out of business. Specialty fish aren't cheap even on the vendor's cost level anymore. Many places are well informed as to the prices that rarities get in the world today and price their wares accordingly.
