Why A Solo Fish ?

Because they like the fish?

Not all green terrors and jack dempseys can be kept in a community. You can have a lot of violence in a community tank of aggressive cichlids. Single cichlids in a tank can be referred to as a "wet pet."

Personally, I prefer communities or pairs at least, I like watching the interaction, but I can see why some might want to keep a single fish. Also, say you had a pair and the male killed one or multiple partners? That happens a lot and the owner liked the fish so it gets housed alone.

Keeping a community, in my opinion,is much much more matinence compated to a bare bottom show tank. Or just a show tank in general. While i think nothing beats a planted community tank, a nice show specimen by itself is an impresive sight as well.

if you want to keep a large aggressive cichlid and only have a small tank like a 75 then you make it work. you can only keep a community of large cichlids in a large tank.
my midevil female will not tolerate any other fish in a 60g.

Most people do it for show fish or fish that should not be housed with others because they dont get along...FH, Midas, etc.

Its awesome sometimes to just keep a single fish and have him spotless... No nibbed fines or damage so that their trailers actually grow and they get the best possible coloring(besides breeding) due to not being stressed out.

Well sometimes a solo fish would accept you as part of the shoal and interact more with you.

I had my FH alone in 90 out of necessity. His aggression was out of control. He was 11" and had a lot of personality, but it did get kinda lame only having 1 fish in there. I recently lost him. I now have a M/F pair of Cubans in there. I just got them last night. Already it is cool to have 2 fish swimming around, not just one fuming.

you can do tht with regular fish though , i don't know why someone would waste a 75 G on a fish that flares and splashes water our the tank 24/7's

I dont know why people would want a tank full of severums and anglesfish and other PLAIN fish.

i need a good reason . i got a solo midas and its kinda boring Why do people like a solo fish ? are midas' more fun when they are paired ??

It is called personal preference. It should never matter what others think, only what you do.

Why not....sometimes simple is better. One fish in a tank....growing to full potential.
