Why All The Threads About Eating Your Fish!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i ment to say release it if it originates from the area you currently live in, if you get what i mean other wise usually your local lfs will happily take free fish no??

I have bought countless used tanks, some running with all different types of fish. I have never had an LFS refuse to take a fish.

One thing to consider is that other peoples culture make things like this OK in their eyes and I can respect that. The staff tries to be respectful to the cultural differences so I myself leave those threads open unless someone starts trolling or fighting in it.

Unless your vegan you can't really poo poo the whole fish as pets and food sources. All I can say is I haven't and probably in the near future wouldn't consider it. But I understand how some one could make that choice.

I mean on the list of wrongs committed towards animals in the name of FOOD, eating a domestically raised fish doesn't even rank.

Trolling means that a member is posting things to try and upset other members or get a rise out of them and or take a thread derailed and down hill. You folks across the pond probably have a different word for it. You guys have the best slang on the planet!

There's a difference,to me....I guess I would be more inclined to agree with your post if I grew up and lived on a farm but even there they don't usually butcher the barn cat or family dog for hamburger. Most people who keep and raise their pet fish have some amount of feelings for them. That probably is not the case with domestically raised food fish...

if your talking about the thread with the guy and his redtail cat there not really his pet he buys them knowing he is going to eat them just like the people you buy beef and pork and chicken from if only you could see the conditions those animals are raised in

I agree. Its not that I personally would. I couldn't. I think that fish are amazing animals but seriously I don't put them on the same level as a person.

There is no different between the fish you keep and the one you eat. If you think there is you are silly. I know there isn't there is only a perceived connection. I'm sure my pet fish don't have complex emotions about me, doesn't stop me from mentally elevating them above the tilapia on my plate. And in many parts of the world people eat dogs so... It all breaks down to our perception. Perception is reality.

What immorality is there in eating a pet when the act of keeping most pets is a form of cruelty if you really consider it. How many people really are great pet owners??? How many fish die each month of neglect? Look at the pound, look at the humane's society. I just see allot of animals suffering and dying in the name of our "LOVE" the idea of eating animals seems like a decent idea relative to the idea of mistreating animals for pleasure. I'd venture a guess that 1/10 pet owners actually takes adequate care of their animals.
