Why are datnoids so expensive?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
As far as I've read the only difference I could see is the care of a AT(brackish water?), the rest are pretty similar.

I bought my 5 IT's for about $10.00 each, they were listed as $12.99. Asking for a discount never hurts just don't hit below the belt when you're trying to bargain with the owner :) and normally they'll budge a few bucks. The bigger they get the more expensive they are, from my experience every 1" add 10 dollars lol.

Get the small ones, minimum of 5, and keep your water clean. You'll end up with some nice looking fish with personality.

well still ITs are like $19.99 for little 2 inchers at my lfs

Same here in NY. It's a bummer, but I still think it's worth it. :)

i bought my 5 incher for $25 at a lfs. it was a trade. he's very stable and a tough fish. mid-sized dats are rare in wichita. you can occasionally find the little ones, but they're so delicate. i've seen people on this site buy a school of the smaller dats and lose several.

Yea that is true, but I prefer to grow them from babies b/c it means you raised them practically their whole lives.

Some people don't have the time nor the patience's to raise baby dat's, fronts, Clown loaches, etc. All the time, money, and effort is given to these fishes when small and in their fragile stage. So, most of the people that buy the bigger ones of the slow growing fish, want instant gratification. Thus being the prices so high, and to add, it's also supply and demand.

They grow slow and u have to pay for water electricity and food doesnt come cheap either!

Your post is a little misleading. The "$5 per Dat" is if you buy 50 of them! And you've got to add another $50-$75 shipping on top of that anyway.
and no live arrival garentee:(
