Damn beat me to it. I had exactly the same reaction, crazy girls are fun just don't ever take them home.

Not sure if "growing a set" really explains why some of us just won't ask. I'm a former commercial diver, which involves explosives and high heat cutting supplies. I'm comfortable around firearms, explosives, venomous animals you name it, with one exception women. Put me in front of a cute girls and I turn into a frightened mouse. She flirts with me and I run, yes in one case literally (caught hell for that for weeks). Got a buddy of mine who is a fire fighter, fearless to the point of stupidity just like me. Same thing he turns into a timid mouse around women. A cute girl flirts and we run like freaking rabbits. Couldn't even begin to explain it.

I was never asked out(in the last 20 years of being single(from 18)), there were a few that were interested in me but never made the move. I would not had said no if they asked but wasn't going to ask them as they weren't first on my list.

Thank goodness I'm married now, would not want to go back to being single again.
