Why DIY Stands Fail

by the lack of comments on my rack diagram, am i right to assume that it doesnt need anything else and i am good to start construction?

That looks better. But what about in the other directions? If you're familiar with the x-y-z coordinate system, then imagine that the horizontal is x, vertical is y, and going into the picture (screen) is z, then you will probably want to also add some in the x and z. That would probably make it earthquake proof.

Also, any reason why the bottom legs aren't braced, perimeter wrapped in 2x4's?

i guess not, so now they are....is this good now?



and heres a front view, you think i should add some supports like the ones in blue on the left? these could only go on the back so you can get the tanks in then...
 
ok finished my stand.........steel tubular with three three foot aquariums and all i had to do was give the guy who owned it some money...
 
Danny, do you ever do anything for yourself? You do a lot of buying but no building. Where is the fun in that? Where is the challenge? I wish I had a high paying job like yours :naughty:

And ummm, how did I know you had no intention of building that thing? :ROFL:

nah i was intending to build it (and probably still will when i have the space)

I have built a tank, a small one......very satisfying

but when i found a guy that was selling three (as in 3) three foot tankS with a rack that housed them all one obove the other and a 10 outlet 70 litre per minute air pump all for $AU 200......well i couldn't resist........im sure you would agree with me that that was an ok deal

It is obsurd because it is not something that anyone would put in thier house; I knew you had no intention of building that thing. I was not surprised when you said you later bought it (though it made no sense that someone would just happen to have such a design). I was surprised however how quickly you admitted that you didn't even buy it.

CHOMPERS, I seriously was intending to build it, not for in my living room or anything like that but in my fish room. I had the exact measurments of the tanks i was going to make to put in it and the measurments and cost of the wood and bolts to make the stand. I had even worked out how many of each pvc fittings and an approx estimation of how much pvc piping i would need. I put hours into this design...and what do i get...i get someone telling me its obsurd, that im an idiot who heckles and harrases people. The only reason i did not build it is that i bought one from a breeder that was going out of buisness. The one i bought was just metal with the tanks directly above one another, nothing like my design. And no i dont have a high paying job im a student, i just saved up for the one i bought, i didnt nearly have enough money to make my "obsurd" stand and all the tanks.

NAH SCREW this site, i dont need this, and how the hell was i heckling? I thought this site was good, But i dont need what some of the people are giving me. If anyone was heckling it was you heckling me. I have no idea how you got what you said out of some of my posts. Is there no good left in this world?

I posted this in here so i wouldnt be doing "post padding" in Arlos post, and whell sounds like i killed this post anyway
