Canada... i wish.
can anyone tell me why?

Great social behaviour.
Nice looking fish.
Don´t grow too big.
Usually stay in a swarm in the tank
Tolerates a wide variety of fish species as tankmates

There aren´t many fish species who size up in all these categories...

I bought Clowns initially because I wanted a tough enough dither / target school to go with rambunctious Central American cichlids. Lots of guys keep them with their tough cichlids, so I thought I'd try them out. The result? I like them as much or more than the centrals which were my passion in the hobby. The are constantly out and "playing" during the day, very active, colorful and cool looking, social with each other, they get pretty big, and they live a long time and are resilient. Just very cool fish, and they still do great with bigger mean central americans. They are also more tame than my centrals (they hand feed). A school / shoal of clowns in a large tank (they need it) is as good as it gets for color, personality, and activity level. Nothing not to love unless you have a small tank.

I have a strange kidney disease that only allows me to see the colors black and orange

I think it has to do mostly with CLs' great temperments. They are tolerant of most fish, and not aggressive towards even smaller fish. They don't eat fish unless they are extremely tiny, and they are hard to get to the ]V[ level. A large clown loach is nearly impossible to get ahold of and/or raise. They are funny and an all-around cool fish IMO.

I love this fishes too they're funny and cute I got 4, 4 to 5 inchers and added recently 5 big ones which were at 6" were hard to find but I got lucky to buy them all at thesame time.

:ROFL: I knew it. Renal blackorangeiasis right? Terrible disease.

I would say its because of their behavior and eventual size. I wanna say (and ewurm correct me if im wrong) they are the largest of the loaches that are commonly on the market. We love everything monster.

Largest loaches commonly available..correct.
Largest loaches overall..no. It's the Leptobotia elongatus that is the largest. The royal clown loach however is very rare and none available so far in the trade. If you want something closely related, find the Leptobotia pellegrini.
