They are really expensive here in Toronto too. I never really cared much for loaches until I read this thread. Now I am reconsidering my dislike of them..

lol prob the same reason why you like clowns. i like oscars because not one has the same personality. each one is different in thier own unique way. its wierd how people say they are aggresive fish, but there not, only when you have the wrong size tank is when they turn evil lol.

:headbang2 indeed

They're the little gangsters of the aquarium. Get them in a good group and they'll run the tank. I have 3" clowns that harrass 12" tor around the tank, swimming just behing it's gil. When I used to keep a tarpon in with them they'd do the same thing with it. At the time it was 14" long and the clowns were 4-6", the small guys could have easily been lunch for the tarpon.

I bought 8 all at once because I heard they were best off as a larger school. And they definitely are! I'll see some of them "playing dead" where they sit still like a fake fish and won't move from a certain spot no matter what the others do to it (sometimes they will go so far as to get pushed over on their sides). Then there are days that some like to curl to one side and look like the letter "c" for as long as they can, if you watch you'll see other attempt it too. Most of the time, you see them schooling around the bottom and it looks like they are playing leap frog, all the while absolutely ignoring everything else that exists in the tank. I often wonder why I bother keeping cichlids with them, but I love all my guys.
