why do people hide there tanks.

everyone does it thier way and thats cool. I just don't see the point in having a tank in a room or garage where you can't enjoy it. is'nt that the point, now, breeding tanks or qt's are another story, but a decorated tank is to be enjoyed. my tank is in a finished basement and I made sure it's in the best spot for me to watch. right next to the t.v. so I don't even have to turn my head. the problem is that it's so distracting I do a lot of rewinding.

Doesn't want to live in an aquarium?:screwy: If I had unlimited money I would build a house that had most of the walls built out of huge aquariums. Basically living surrounded by and under the aquariums and have the second or third floor for maintenance and pluming. What could be better than that!?:nilly:

I would tend to agree with you on this!! But unfortunately the wife doesn't:cry:. I have 8 tanks in the house right now and am still looking for a bigger one. Found another good deal on craigslist, but I don't know if she'll budge. All of my tanks are spread throughout the house (don't have a basement). I would love to have a huge monster tank in the garage but we just moved into the new house and it is full of boxes of my wifes stuff!!!

i have multiple tanks hidden in closets where clothes,shoes,etc. belong only because i ran out of space.
1200 gallons of water in a small one bedroom apartment.Yes basement level:}

I had my tanks scattered all around our house, at least one tank per room, it sucked for waterchanges running from room to room. My dad and I are in the process of moving most of the fish tanks into the basement, maybe leave one in our living room for show. only 13 of my 30ish tanks are running in the basement. Again, reasons are cement slab for weight issues and not having to run around the house with the python to do water changes. Im making a fish room where I can sit in the middle of the room with 360 degrees of fish visible. It makes it easier for my dad to take care of them while I am at college.

i decided to go the "one in every room " route.

Some people do not want to spill water on there carpet or hardwood floor. Trust those that have them downstairs enjoy them just as much as those that have them upstairs.

I'm sure people with big tanks would love to be able to have them in a place where they can easily see their fish but the problem is that big tanks like that are heavy on their own and even worse filled with water. No one wants their big tank busting and flooding their house so it's just easier to have them in a basement or something.

I think another reason that people have their tanks in their basements/garages is better access to make water changes etc...

I have all of my tanks but 2 in my basement, and all I have to do is put the hose in the tank and down to my sump to drain it, and then pull the hose over from the sink, and it refills.. I can do 8 tanks with water changes/fills in about half an hour.

Takes me a half hour to do my 55 gallon up stairs because I have to use buckets.
