Why do you keep catfish?

I have a large albino channel cat and its totally awesome. My tank would look empty without it. its about a year old and its already a foot long, and its like a vaccuum cleaner when stuff his the bottom of the tank. AWESOME fish.

Hi all.

Agree with everything said so far about the catfishes. They add activity to the lower levels of the tank (sometimes up to the surface, like my floating pellets-eating hoplo cat), clean up the glass/decor/substrate of algae and/or uneaten food, and some are bizarre-looking, especially the plecos.
My RTCxTSN hybrid showed me another "utility" for the big cats:

My little monster... Pretty, isn't it? ;)

The catfish getting rid of the corpse for me (soory for the bad pic).

Everything that dies here become catfish food. No more flushing or throwing in the trash can, and I get a happy and fat catfish.

Best regards.

Daniel.

the plecos if you know anything about me you have to know I love the plecos there are so many kinds some are colorful and some are just plain awesome...

I know why she died... She got beaten by my urophtalmus. BTW, I never saw a predator get sick of eating a diseased fish, except for internal parasites.

Best regards.

Daniel.

mostly I have catfish to help clean up the gravel, but often if I find a cool looking cat Ill get him, just to have a Odd catfish.

I love watching mine...This fish is why I keep catfish

I have always had a fascination for catfish, although I've never been able to fully understand why. I believe it is because they are all so unique and not like "ordinary" fish.

My favorites are predatory cats, particularly large pims. I love the way they cruise around with their whiskers all spread and how they get ultra excited whenever they sense that they are near food.

that is an awesome catfish.
