Why do you keep catfish?

Because cory cats were the first egglayer I bred and hatched fry from successfully.

And face it, they are just so goddamn cool! Some cats creep the bottom, others are mid layers, some at the top of the tank. An all catfish tank would rock.

my plans exactly to have an all catfish pond, and all my other tanks all catfish also, save for the ocassional feeder that seems to escape, and grow, and also need fed it's own special food. Damnit

that said I currently have a feeder goldfish that has escaped for 6 months and is about 6 1/2 inches long.

catfish are some of the ultimate monster fish. i've had several species of cats and every single one was unique in its own way. the channel i have now is one of the coolest most active i've had yet. plenty of species i still want though. when i move in 8 months and finally get my monster tank. i think i'll get a tigrinus.

I don't even know how to post, but only to be able to share my knowledge with other people in the moster fish keeping hobbie, But the real reason first is because i never seen a monster catfish 6 feet long close enough to touch them. My wish is to own one that can grow up to 7feet long!! (such... a long.... time.) and to know of, reason that is a fish, since i adopted it as my baby to become a beatiful beast. You know you probably hear of gaint moster fish lerking in the water that can scare you as a kid (imingine of being in the water with them...?). Yeah but, to own one is so far out Co.... ool!

That is my real passion for reason being a mosterFishKeeper.

Hey everyone. Just trying to start some interesting threads. Maybe you guys allready had a similar one before. I was just thinking it would be cool to hear why you guys like to keep catfish. For instance my goal is to keep at least one of each species of pimelodid catfish to maturity and beyond. What is your goal??

I have been into fishing for years and have always had a fascinating for cats. When I started keeping bigger fish the ones I got given to me at the start were catfish. They had normally out grown the community tank or eaten every. It all went on from there I just love big fish any sort but there is something about a big cat and there ability to eat anything (ok not all but you get the idea).

They are Bad@$$es, I like the way they look, and they have so many varieties that the combination of form and color is almost endless

when i was a kid i thought plecos moved like sharks. since then always had them. just wana keep one of each and breed a few species. will take a while, but am well on the way.

cories are one of the coolest bottom small community fish you can buy, the bigger the shoal the better, i think they are way cooler than loaches.

the bigger cats, i have never owned, and never thought id want to until i saw miles' pic of his tsn, and just realised how cool it is to have such a monster that has such a personality, and in a way, can almost be completely friendly!
