Why does every1 like cichlids?

Because it is a wet pet. They are responsive, intelligent, and are full of energy! Great (Show) pet.
Its a feeling you get when you see them. Like dog owners. They get them because..................., Horse owners like horses because................... Cichlids are the same way. In fact its not just Cichlids, its any fish. You have to respect the style, behavior, and looks of the fish. The personality. Its all tied to a feeling of enjoyment when you raise them. If you think that they all look like a colored bluegill, than you already have an opinion on them and nothing we say will change it. If you cant physically look at a Cichlid and go, damn that fish is cool, then you wont ever be interested. So this post is pointless.
Not too sure how it works, because everyone who has fish thats seen my cichlids converts to cichlids because they offer more personality than most small tropical fish.
It's hard getting a straight answer in this forum as ull get more stupid answers because ppl think it's funny to wreck threads. I myself love cichlids because I grew up watching them as a kid in my dad's tanks. I've owned manyover the past 8 years now and even if I have a small tank there's a cichlid that will be in it. The way I see it there aren't many fish out there that act like or give u a better fish keeping experience
I started out in the hobby keeping tropical fish like guppies, mollies, bala sharks, african butterflies etc... and started keeping Cichlids about 15 years ago and haven't turned back. There really is no comparison. Cichlids are VERY aware of there owners and no one can tell me different. They have a level of intelligence that most fish don't have and that is why i keep and enjoy them so much. I will always keep cichlids over other types of fish. If you haven't kept cichlids you really have no idea how wonderful they are.
