Why does every1 like cichlids?

I dig on their personalities, I've got plenty of different kinds of fish but just one of my many cichlids show more personality than all of my other schoolers and what not combined.
That and of course interaction, they are kind of like little dogs.

I have been in the hobby for many years. I have had all kinds of fish. I had shark like fish cichlids bruisers haps cyprinids characins you name it. I constantly change what I like. Last year it was my jags. This year I have been really getting into angelfish. Hell a few years ago I liked my goldfish. Cichlids almost seem like they have something for everyone. Hope that answers your question. Research the many differant types of cichlids out there and see what it is all about.
i wonder why they look like bluegill....o wait blue gill are chiclids you idiot find some thing better to compare them to.......get a big tank and get chiclids u will never go back.....
I totaly understand the cichlid thing. Heck I have 4 now, and 4 more on order/grow out.
What I don't get is the craze for flowerhorns and those fish with the big ol cancerous looking growths on their heads.
Yeah, flowerhorns have some awesome coloring, but what is it about them has every other thread here carrying on with folks having orgasms over them?
Are they different from other popular cichlids?
As for the bulging tumor looking thing... What IS that? (I honestly though the first one I saw was a diseased fish)
What draws people to those fish?

I am one of the few here that understood what the poster was asking. I'm surprised how many people have attacked him. If he said they sucked then yes but he didn't.

Not true... I like Cichlids and kept many in the past but I haven't had any in 10 years as I went with a more peaceful route
Bluegills aren't "chiclids..." CICHLIDS are all in the family Cichlidae... Bluegill are in the family Centrarchidae. Might want to brush up on your taxonomy and learn to spell cichlid before you start calling people idiots.
