Why does my tank smell soooo bad???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if it smells like rotten eggs, that is a sign of hydrogen sulfide. i'm not 100 percent sure on where to go from here. you may want to check it out using the search threads feature. lupin is knowledgeable on this

hahhahaha i'm rofling at the title and thread

lol, alright all ideas taken into account... i will try my best to eliminate the odor =/....

if you don't vacuum the bottom/substrate of your tank then no wonder it smells so bad - its also not good for that EBJD that you are trying so hard to grow out. I recommend going with a bare bottom tank and cleaning all visible detritus out daily. THat will get your little guy growing

Check your water parameters. You know "right where they need to be" doesn't help. My guess is your bio filter crashed & you will have nitrite spiking & nitrates through the roof. You gotta keep a sharp eye on young tanks, especially at the end of the cycle. It can happen overnight. Especially when using large fish to cycle.
What filter are you running on this tank? Where is the filter intake (corner, center)? The 20gLongs are hard to filter properly & keep stable because of the shape (long & shallow). I run an AC50 & an AC30 on mine, but I still have to run a small powerhead in the opposite corner to keep the water moving.
