Why does Puff Daddys son need a scholarship??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey bottles! If the kid really does want to make it on his own, that IS really respectable. Im just assuming that money given by private donors or in this case the article concludes its tax payer money goes with the intention of assisting college students who may not be able to go to college otherwise. If I could connect the 2 cents I paid in taxes to send THIS guy to school, Id be irritated. Honestly I didnt even know Pdiddy had a college age son and I know nothing about the guy, obviously he has some level of intelligence and talent thats way beyond me, but people like me have to keep track of every dollar I give.

I do agree, and I'd rather see under privileged kids take advantage of the money (or people who need it more). It really is a small amount of money for Puffy, and a huge sum for many others.
I understand both sides, but it seems a little cruel to reward someone else who may be less deserving.

Solution: Kid keeps scholarship; Diddy makes a SIZABLE donation for the others haha.

I'd be willing to bet donations also skyrocket when athletics excel and keep the school in the news. I know that when I was at Purdue there was a much stronger alumni presence when the football or basketball teams did well. Football and basketball also fund scholarships for the other sports whose athletes have no professional ambitions.

+1

sports bring in money to the schools...the science and technology departments don't

i'm not sure why the young man should owe his parents money and live on their dime......he's makin his own way in the world. what if diddy had decided to cut him off?y'all wouldn't give a rip. their may have been all kinds of stipulations he had to follow if diddy paid his way. i'd go whichever route freed me from my parents rule too

lol, thats one angle I did not see, like I said I dont know nothing about the kid, he could be better than someone less deserving, but that would be argueable. I know a lot of people who couldnt go to school without aid of some sort, I think that should carry some weight. Also I think its kind of disappointing the Combs' wouldn't make the gesture of not accepting the aid. "Whaat Puffy? You can buy the bar out every nite but cant send a mfkr to school??"

the thing is, NASA has to cut many projects, mars is from the list, jupiter is from the list...the scientific branch in USA is starting to cripple and the budgets are cut ...yet there are millions of $ to support football players who can't count till 3. That angers me. That entire program is a joke.

Who wants to go to Jupiter? Not me . . . Football, basketball and baseball generate millions of dollars for a university and the athletes don't make a penny. Why are you complaining?

why does someone in germany even care about the u.s. space program? space is fascinating but you can argue spending money on it is as pointless as sports. in the grand scheme of things, neither really matters. the difference is one entertains a ton of people, the other entertains a handful

ROFL. The possible discovery of new life and things unbeknownst to mankind = roughly the same as scoring a touchdown now? Deluded.

And how many of these things will you accomplish? Where do you get the audacity to think you're more valuable than anyone else? You don't need to be so judgemental.

I understand the people saying his daddy can pay, but some people have pride and want to make their own way. This kid probably never has to work again, but he's trying to do his own thing and make his own name, which I think is respectable. If there's someone more deserving then they should get it, if not, then he's another hard working kid getting what he earned.

This is an excellent, excellent point.

He should be praised for even choosing to go to college! If I was that kid I'd be sitting on my butt using my daddy's money for fish tanks!

i believe sport scholarships shold end now. Money should not be wasted on something so worthless.

If this happens and there is no school period.. Science related academics are typically an operating expense (costs money). Sports programs are a contributing factor to the operating income (makes money) it takes to run a school. Colleges are not funded in the same way an organization like NASA is..

IMO any person of any background trying to achieve something for themselves is wonderful despite what mom and dad may have in the bank. Hopefully these young adults who make it through school don't feel too guilty about them succeeding for themselves by whatever means it took to get them there and not NASA having to better manage a budget on someone else's dime. *tear
