There is a message in a white box that says "it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeeks, why not take a few minutes to..."

Well, I will tell you why. It has been my experience that SOME people on the forum like to put down others for what they have to say. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I can appreciate that, with that said, alot has to do with HOW poeple choose to impart their opinions onto others. If ask a question about what do I feed my arowana, I would get ridiculed because the tank it's in is too small, or my filtration isn't good enough, when ALL I want to know is what are feeding options for an arowana. My specialty is in catfish, always have been, but I would be slaughtered for saying I have five baby redtails that I am growing out and "Training" in a 65 gallon tank. I would love to share the story, but it's not worth the aggravation of fighting with people. Simply put, people come here for help, not to have their rear ended handed to them. I will continue to read, but as far as posting... well, I just did.

I viewed your threads and recent posts...Nothings stands out as harsh treatment by others...but yes, if you were to put I have 5 RTC in a 65 gallon without any other info, you will get slaughtered :)

I am thankful myself that I am doing peacocks and haps in my 300...not too many arguments about tank sizes there...

I sometimes ignore the naysayers to the point that I won't respond to their questions because of the way they treat other members. But, I try keeping a general positive outlook on the members that pose questions and will offer my experiences in efforts to help answer their questions and concerns. That's the only way this site can manage to make a progressive advance in the myriad aspects of this hobby that we all enjoy.

You would get slaughtered because people care about the well being of the fish, I want this hobby to expand and its going the opposite direction when more and more fish die. Not saying in your case that your a bad fishkeeper. Its a general statement not off your 65 gallon tank. The more fish that die the more we lose thats all im saying. If people come here to learn the less mistakes get made and im sure mfk have saved a lot of fish from bad situations just by giving some advice. One of the great things about this site is when you ask a simple question about feeding people take time out of their day to provide more information to help keep a species to thrive in your set up. Maybe some might do it from a more aggressive aspect but atlest your still getting the information you need. I love mfk you can collect more information then from any book you read because your dealing with peoples own experience. Sometimes i may ask a question that might be considered obvious to others but at least i find the answers to them. Dont take comments to personal people are just trying to help out.

I've seen it happen to several people on here. The "professionals" attack what they perceive as inferior keepers all the time.

There is also a huge doublestandard as far as tank requirements and what people celebrate as great tanks.

I also think there is a heavy omission of rational thinking. If someone asks a question they want reasons for why the answers are as they are, not to be snarky but so they can extrapolate out more info from a simple response and avoid further pointless questions etc. Many people on here take questions as challenges to their experiences, don't know why but that is the way it is. I haven't personally had so much of an issue with this but I've seen quite a few novices get their heads bitten off when they come in with "research" that doesn't jive with the knowledge of the individual responding. There is also alot of vague or ambiguous turn downs to certain questions.

I still think that monsterfishkeepers has a overwhelmingly positive community but I've seen a few elitist pop up time and again, they forget they ever didn't know what to do.

Posting about not posting anymore??? :nilly: Seriously though, if you "know" that you're doing everything right, your fish are healthy and happy, and the RTC in a 65 is truely a temp situation(we've all heard that before) then why not just fudge the numbers a little. Your 65g growout and "accidentally" turn into a 265g growout with a typing error. That way maybe the responses will be a little closer to what you're looking for. Another suggestion for the mods that might help with these situations would be an ignore button that enables you to block posts from certain members. I know a few that I wouldn't mind seeing dissapear.

Stop whining. . .
If u are not going to post, juz don't post. What's your point in saying all these ? Expect people to pity U ? Look at what u are doing to YOUR FISHES and not expect anyone to ridicule u ? If I were to throw u in a one room n expect u to do EVERYTHING inside, how would u feel ?
